Torontossa 4.3.2009,

Hyvät ystävät,

Floridan matka on takana ja ehdimme Valtterin kanssa jo muuttaakin täällä Torontossa heidän uuteen kotiinsa Scarboroon. Kovasti on ollut kiireitä viime päivinä, mutta hyvin on kaikki mennyt. Ainut vähemmän iloinen asia on harvinainen kylmyys täällä tähän aikaan vuodesta. Floridan jälkeen se tuntuu luissa ja ytimissä!

Floridassa oli erittäin hyvät talvipäivät. Intialainen Sam Abraham julisti tulkkinsa Mikan Halkolan kanssa siellä voimallisesti ja inspiroivasti sanaa. Oli ilo olla itse nyt kuuntelijan paikalla ja vain nauttia rohkeasta ja selkeästä saarnasta. Osuutemme oli lähinnä läheyskokouksessa kertoa lähetystyön tulevaisuudesta. Siinä samalla kerroimme myös puskapappitoiminnan tämän hetkisestä tilanteesta. Kerroime myös jatkosuunnitelmista siirtyä Etiopiaan raamattukoulutuksen kehittämiseen ja puskapappitoiminnan aloittamiseen siellä. Kaiken kaikkiaan päivät olivat hyvät ja iloitsimme mahdollisuudesta olla siellä mukana ja tavata tuttuja eri puolilta Amerikan mannerta.

Tällä hetkellä haluamme pyytää esirukousta ysätäviltä eri puolilla maailmaa Etiopian tilanteen vuoksi. Saimme viestin juuri tällä viikolla sieltä, että projekteja koskeva laki ei ole vieläkään mennyt läpi. Tilanne on siis vielä auki siltä osin ja toivomme, että kaikki menee hyvin ja voimme hakea työlupaa alkuperäisen suunnitelman mukaan.

Tansaniassa Felisiani, yhdessä opettajiemme kanssa, jatkaa omatoimisesti työtä ja viime viikon onnistunut seminaari Kateshissa oli osoitus siitä, että he pystyvät jo kaiken hoitamaan itse. Saimme sieltä jo kuvia ja muita raportteja sähköpostin välityksellä, joten olemme turvallisella mielellä työn jatkuvuuden suhteen. Ensi viikolla seminaari on Moshissa, Pohjois Tansaniassa ja Felisiani menee sinne opettamaan. Muistetaan taas hänen matkaansa rukouksin.

Olemme Torontossa täällä mukana auttamassa siellä missä voimme. Nyt on menossa rukousviikko ja joka päivälle on ohjelmaa seurakunnan puolesta. Ensi viikon lopulla on tarkoituksemme sitten matkustaa pohjois Ontarioon ja tehdä kierros siellä seurakunnissa. Se on vain sellainen parin viikon matka, mutta sitten touko-kesäkuussa menemme sinne useammaksi viikoksi Sudburyyn pastorin loman sijaiseksi.

Dear Friends,

The trip to Florida is over. Paivi, Sonja and Noah stayed in Lake Worth for a couple days longer so we had time to move Walter and Sonja’s stuff to their new home. They are now renting a main floor of a house in Scarborough. It has been quite busy to help them organize and clean the house and to look after Noah who is a very active small fellowJ. So everything is fine except it has been really cold here in Toronto recently. After Florida you can feel it in your bones!

In Florida we had a good Winter Conference. A pastor from India, called Sam Abraham, was our guest speaker. With his interpreter, Mika Halkola, he preached God’s Word very powerfully. It was great to be able to sit back, to listen and enjoy the Word of God. In the mission service we got a chance to tell about our work in Tanzania and our plans to move to Ethiopia in the end of the summer to help with the Bible School education and start the OBS ministry in there. All in all the Conference was inspiring and we were happy that we got a chance to participate and meet our friends from different parts of the North America.

At this point we want to ask your prayers about the situation in Ethiopia. We got the information from there that the law concerning NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations), which would effect also the mission organizations, has not been approved yet. That law might influence our work permits and it would be more complicated to get working visas. We know that everything is possible with God!

In Tanzania our teacher Felisiani continues to work. We got a message that the seminar that he held last week in Katesh, was good and blessed. We are happy that our teachers continue to teach and organize the seminars by themselves. This week there is a seminar in Chunya, Southern Tanzania, where Felisiani is teaching. Lets remember this seminar in our prayers.

We are now in Toronto, living at Walter’s place. We help here at the church where we can. Last week there was a prayer week, and we were participating in most on the prayer meetings. In the end of this week we will travel to Northern Ontario and visit our supporting churches to hold missionary meetings. This trip will take two weeks, then we’ll return here. In the end of May Sam will go to Sudbury for a longer time. Paivi will stay in Toronto (mostly) to help Sonja and Walter to take care of Noah, as their new baby is due in mid-May. We ask you to pray for our trip and the meetings.
