Hyvää Uutta Vuotta kaikki ystävämme,
Lunta sataa taas hiljalleen. On vuoden toinen aamu täällä lännellä. Suomessa kello on nyt jo 7 illalla ja Tansaniassa 8. Joulunaika oli todella mahtava. Pojat totesivatkin, että paras joulumme mitä koskaan on ollut! Syynä oli varmaan se, että pitkästä aikaa saimme olla koolla koko perhe ja pikku Noahkin oli mukana uutena perheen jäsenenä. Vancouverin alueella on todella harvinaista jos jouluna on lunta maassa. Nyt oli ja todella kaunista uutta vitilunta joka paikassa. Lumisade alkoi mutamaa päivää ennen joulua ja jatkui joulupäivään saakka. Yhteensä muutamassa päivässä satoi noin puoli metriä puhdasta, valkoista lunta...eikä jouluaamun maisema ollu unta, eikä satua, vaan satumaisen kaunista. Ks.kuvat.
Olimme varmaan olleet kaikki kilttejä, kun saimme niin paljon lahjoja. Vasta Afrikasta tulleena se tuntui jopa liialta, mutta kun emme taas tiedä milloin seuraavan kerran saamme olla yhdessä, niin soimme itsellemme tuon ilon antaa ja saada lahjoja. Ville luki jouluevankeliumin aattona ja kaikki tiesimme ja ymmärsimme, että suurin lahja oli kuitenkin jo annettu kauan sitten, kun joulun Herra Jeesus annettiin meille pelastuksen toivoksi. Tästä ennen kaikkea kiitämme Jumalaa. Vielä on Jumalalla hyvä tahto ihmisiä kohtaan ja sitä sanomaa tahdomme jälleen tänä alkavana uutena vuotena levittää kaikkialle sinne, minne Jumala johdattaa.
Puskapappitoiminnassa on ollut pieni joululoma. Nyt Felisiani on taas aloittanut uuden vuoden seminaarien järjestämisen. Tammikuussa hän kuitenkin ensin kiertää kaikki tähänastiset seminaaripaikkakunnat ja tekee tarkan raportin miten oppilaamme ovat sijoittuneet, montako uutta kirkkoa on perustettu ja suunnilleen montako uutta uskovaa niissä on. Noin neljä vuotta sitten teimme vastaavan evaluaation ja silloin uusia kirkkoja oli perustettu jo reilut 60. Nyt on mielenkintoista kuulla miten ne sadat valmistuneet puskapapit ovat työssä ja toimessa edistyneet. Tämä varmaan rohkaisee myös teitä kaikkia, jotka olettte olleet tukemassa työtämme. Pyysin häntä myös ottamaan paljon kuvia, joita sitten voimme panna kotisivuillemme. Felisiani lähetti paljon terveisiä kaikille ja kertoi heidän joulun viettonsa sujuneen myös hyvin iloisissa merkeissä. Talon rakennus alkaa olla siinä mallissa, että pian he saavat ikkunat ja ovet paikalleen ja voivat sitten muuttaa sisään ja pikkuhiljaa viimeistellä sisustusta. Myös Eljas Simon ja Paolo Kuzenza perheineen lähettivät joulutervehdyksen ja samalla kaikille ystäville terveisiä ja hyvän Uuden Vuoden toivotukset.
Me myös omasta puolestamme tahdomme kiittää teitä kaikkia mukanaolostanne kuluneen vuoden aikana ja haastamme teitä edelleen jatkamaan tätä hedelmällistä työtä. Tänä vuonna haasteet vain lisääntyvät ja toimintamme laajenee, joten tarvitsemme esirukouksianne ennen muuta, mutta myös kaikkea muuta tukeanne. Happy New Year to All of Our Friends!
It is snowing again. This is the second day of the New Year. We had awonderful Christmas time. The boys were saying that "This was the best Christmas ever…" and we all agreed. It has been many years since wehave been able to celebrate Christmas all together as a family, and the very first Christmas for us with both of our daughters-in-law. And of course it was Noah´s first Christmas as well! So it was aspecial blessing for us all!
Another blessing was the white Christmas. It doesn't happen very often here in Vancouver. Now it started to snow before Christmas and continued through Christmas, so we were literally living in a Winter Wonder Land! For us it was great! (Maybe not so great for those who missed their flights or had to spend their Christmas somewhere waiting because the flights were cancelled…) Anyways, you have to understand that after many warm and green Christmases, it looked SO beautiful! Look at the photos !
Obviously we had been good because we got many presents. For us, just coming from Africa, it almost felt overwhelming. But not knowing when we can spend Christmas together again, we took this as a special blessing, and enjoyed the giving and receiving of presents. As Ville was reading about the First Christmas, we all knew and understood that the greatest gift had already been given a long time ago, when the Saviour was being born into this world. We praise God for this. Eventoday God has good will towards all people, and this is the good news we want to spread during this New Year, wherever the Lord leads us.
In our OBS ministry there has been a little break as well. Now our teacher Felisiani has started to organize the seminars for this year.In January he is going to travel through all those places where we have had seminars since the year 2000 and report where our OBS-students are located. Also he will find out how many churches have been planted by them and how many people are now attending the services in these churches. We had this kind of survey made about four years ago and at that time there had been more than 60 churches planted. It will be interesting to see what the situation at this time is. It will also encourage you all who have been helping us in this ministry financially and with your prayers. I also asked Felisiani to take lots of pictures that we can put them on our webpage. Felisiani sent his greetings and told us that he is continuing to build his house. He has bought the roof sheets and still needs to buy windows, doors and some other things in order to move in. Normally the finishing is done when the family lives in the house already. Felisiani and the other OBS teachers all send their greetings wishing you a blessed New Year. They are grateful for your financial and other support.
We also want to say "Thank you" for our faithful supporters during the past year and we challenge you to continue to support this fruitful ministry of OBS. This year we face new challenges as the OBS ministry is expanding to Ethiopia later this year. We need your prayers and other support. Praise Report of the Week: Praise God for an awesome Christmas timewith our sons and their families. Also praise God for Hisfaithfulness, guidance and protection during the past year. Althoughour teacher Elias was in an accident, God protected him and hesurvived without injuries.
